This incredible group started in the 1950s as Tommy Ellison and the
Five Singing Stars of Brooklyn New York. Tommy, born in Salley, South
Carolina was the founder and lead vocalist for this outstanding gospel
quartet. Tommy sang with artists such as Madame Edna Cook, The
Harmonizing 4, Chosen Gospel singers, and now his very own Singing
Stars, and shared the stage with some of gospel's biggest names
(Shirley Ceaser, Lee Williams, The Canton Spirituals) performing in
almost all 50 states, five different countries, and cornerstone venues
throughout his career (Carnegie Hall, The Apollo, Madison Square
Garden...)
Sam, Big O, and Dennis have captured many hearts with their terrific style of guitar playing and choreography. Never has anyone who has seen this group perform been displeased with a concert. When The Singing Stars hit the stage with their matching tailored suits you know you are in for a treat
As of January 4th, 2009, Tommy has gone over to glory; he departed his life after battling with a long sickness. He will be missed dearly by his fans and the Singing Stars but the group must go on! It was Tommy's wish.
